Up until a few months earlier, I was selecting color crystals for my Force Users based on their outfit. But then I decided to get a bit “deeper”, checked the net for meanings of colors and started to change the color crystals of my force users. Here’s what I use:
My Guardian Tank uses blue. Classic blue. This is the color of bravery and courage. Blue is also the color of “blade masters” among the Jedi. As she solves her problems with her lightsaber rather than Force tricks, it’s a fitting color for her.
My Sage uses Green. It’s known to be the color of wisdom and peace. And that is all what my Sage is about.
My Shadow uses Yellow. It’s very fitting for her as yellow is being used by those who seek to destroy the dark side, and whose activities are also closer to espionage. And that’s basically who my Shadow is.
White is a bit complicated. First of all, My Guardian (main character; I have two Guardians) and my Sentinel use white.
Some sources say that white crystals is used by those who remain calm and focused on the living Force. White is also the color of purity and unity. As both my Guardian and my Sentinel are calm, clear and pure, white crystal makes sense.
But some other sources say Jedi with a very single minded obedience use white crystals. Even though my Guardian and Sentinel aren’t really “droids” who obey without questioning, they are still fine members of the Order.
But I still prefer to think the first meaning is true rather than this second one.
Moving onto the “Sith side of the Force”, my Assassin uses red crystal. Classic red. She is a Sith Assassin; a Sith and an Assassin. So I can’t think of a better choice for her.
My Imp-side main Juggernaut uses purple. Sith who turn to Jedi use purple. Or in other words, those who know both sides of the Force use purple. While my Juggernaut is a LS’ded character, he was being raised as a Sith until he joined the Revanites. He Force chokes people for the greater good, so I thought purple would be fitting for him.
Bronze (Copper) Color:
My Juggernaut tank uses bronze (copper). Bronze depicts physical strength, so I think it’s fitting for him.
My Marauder uses orange crystals. Orange is mostly used by Jedi and the color seems to correlate with extreme strength. The “extreme strength” part fits well to my Marauder even though the “Jedi” part doesn’t, so I thought it would be a nice choice for her.
Some other sources also say that orange is the color of Jedi negotiators. Again, the “Jedi” part doesn’t really fit, but she is the ruler of the Eternal Alliance now, so she does negotiate.
My Sorcerer isn’t in this list right now. She was using a gold crystal but when I decided to use colors based on their meanings, I saw that Jedi who are extremely light sided use gold crystals. But my Sorcerer is extremely dark sided :(, so it doesn’t really make any kind of sense for her to use gold.
Maybe a darksaber? And my legacy name is Darksaber, so it would make sense. Problem is, there is no real darksaber in the game. So I may use a Black/Something crystal maybe? I’ll think of something.
Bonus Color; Cyan:
While I don’t use this color at the moment, I think it’s very fitting color for a Shadow/Assassin. It is said that cyan crystals make the less humming so it would be a perfect choice for a person who attacks from stealth.
So yeah, that’s me and these are my characters. How about you?

Whenever I create an outfit, I match the crystal to the outfit. But, Arke always uses a purple crystal. I hated that some crystal colors were faction-dependent at launch, so she’s used purple since they opened it up to pubs. It sometimes gets quite difficult matching her outfit to her lightsaber, but that’s always the goal.
Iris uses a red crystal for her blaster. When I first changed her look, I based her first outfit off Han Solo and chose a red crystal. I haven’t changed her blaster with her outfits, so she’s still using red.
Sefone also gets a red crystal because it looked great with his original outfit. As a sniper, I should probably choose something that will blend into the background better and not look like a tracer back to where he is hiding. Sigh, now that I’ve thought of that I will have to change his crystal color as soon as the game comes back up.

If I have to be completely honest, I chose lightsaber colors based on, well, the colors themselves. Sort of.
For my jugg I got standart red because he is (or at least used to be) a textbook example of a sith. With less random killings though.
For my mara I got different shades of red (fire red, blood red, something else red) because I RP’ed her as a heir to a line of pureblood nobles and the rarer shades of red are supposed to symbolize that she’s still a sith like the rest, but she’s also above the rank-and-file saber jockeys, if such a structure even exists during that timeline.
For my sorc I got a purple saber because an inquisitor is not an actual sith per se (I mean, you basically got forced into being one) and I decided being different, yet still using a dark-ish color, can indicate that. She never really adopted the sith ideals to heart but now that she’s had a taste for power she’s out to get more. Still wondering whether I should go DS or LS in KotET with her. Anyway.
I changed color combinations a lot with my sentinel, but basically stuck with the three classic colors – yellow, green and blue. I think currently I am using a green/blue combo, but I’m not 100% sure. No particular reasoning behind the changes, I just want some variety in the pretty colors on my screen while I jump around.
And finally, my sage. For her I have one of the CM shades of green. No particular reason here too, I just like how it looks.

Auset, my Infiltration Shadow (blue twi’lek), uses White-Orange-Yellow. She used to use yellow when the game started and I switched to orange a while later. That has different reason. For one she’s a shadow, and a shadow is the closest thing to what a sentinel was in Knights of the Old Republic. Bastila was a sentinel and is pretty much the embodiment of an SW:TOR shadow. Thus I like to stick with yellow sabers. Also, yellow-orange is complementary to her blue skin color and sets a proper emphasize. The white orange yellow crystals are very brilliant and I think they befit a “posh” jedi.
Shara, my Marksmandship Snipter (chiss), uses White-Purple-Blue crystal. I like to play on the theme of ice. The rifle shots look very cold this way and it fits to her most of her color themes (except the red ones). She used to use red, like her chiss eyes at the start of the game.
Shavere, my Combat Sentinel (chiss), uses Amethyst crystals. For a long time I used blue. Simple, straightforward, smooth, befitting for a jedi. However, I felt pushing it a tad into red wouldn’t hurt, light side or not. Between the deep blue of her skin and the red of her eyes.
Charna, my darkness assassin uses an intense purple. It feels like it befits a Sith, but doesn’t say too much “evil”. (She may be deep red, but I’ve also given her brown eye… her deep red makeup would look aggressive on any other skin color, but on her skin it just sets a playful accent) There is a reason I never posted an outfit for her: She uses a simple Visas Marr outfit with secondary purple dye, and that just works for her. The lightsaber color adds well to this.
Nuriette (Vigilance Guardian, human, brown hair) changed her color quite a lot recently, she is a relatively young character of mine, still I play her a lot more often than some of my much older characters. She used to use green at first, then I tried turquoise, farmhand blue, and since recently mint. I might stick with it or switch back to normal green.
Cayrenne (Rage Juggernaut) simply uses “Imperial Red”. The difference to the standard red is marginal, but it does appear a little hard… slightly darker shade of rage with a slight nudge more blue. Makes sense for a sith.

I particularly like the first and last – I hope the woman in the first shot does have blue eyes. The last looks like she had a whip of molten glass.
When it comes to the sneaky I’d use a colour that provides a little contrast to the outfit. Maybe orange… yellow core might be worth consideration, though I am not sure what it does to the light effect at the blade. It’s not really that starwarsy, but it does look sharper, harder, more clearly defined.

First one has indeed blue eyes :).

I also try to make the crystal fit the rest of the outfit, especially if I’m using an outfit with a lot of lights on it, e.g.:
