Information:
On the surface Vlad was the unseen yet named, philanthropic CEO of Cal Karbst Manufacturing, a industrial company responsible for some of the most cutting edge electronics in the galaxy. Underneath that guise however, lied the former Sith Lord, Vladishun; a cybernetic human with an alignment to the dark side of the Force. Bending the the Force to his will and then twisting it with Cal Karbst’s technology, Vladishun created weapons to arm The Blackstar Legacy, a group of soldiers and warriors that were guided by a sapient machine of unknown origin.
This is really creative. I like the Blackstar legacy story of the outfits you’ve shared, and the screenshots are very inventive. How did you get all of the characters in your legacy together for one photo?
Thank you, I’m glad you like it!
At first I literally just tried to cut the characters out of their original image and paste them into a still background. That didn’t work though, the characters didn’t look natural in their placements and anything with a glow or fire effect can’t be cut properly without it looking jaggy and messy.
What ended up working for me, was to create a secondary account (Free to play works because you can summon them to your stronghold) that acted as a still cameraman. I then downloaded a program called ISboxer that lets you run multiple clients and logged into my primary account and the camera account. After that I’d just take screenshots with each character placed individually, and load them up into Photoshop, then cut around the background for each one so the characters in the layers under them would show.
That’s what gives it the authentic feel, because each character actually was in that location, just not at the same time. As an added bonus, you get the shadows for the characters which really captures lighting styles and the like. As I update and add the rest of my characters, you’ll see some of the other ideas I’ve come up with using this method. Personally I think it’s a lot of fun bringing these characters to life in images that aren’t normally possible. 🙂
You’re welcome, I’ve been looking at the Blackstar characters for a long time. The RP backstories are super neat. I suspected you used Photoshop or something but they looked so real in the garage. I will really have to experiment with this. It’s an awesome idea to use a F2P “cameraman” to take the screenies. Can’t wait to see more for sure. 🙂
